Rapid - Portugal - Convent

This work transformed the large convent building in the town square. Two screen films (one film reversed and delayed by one second) gave the illusion of imagery coming in and going out of the corner much like a kaleidoscope.
As the film played musicians led by conductor Tim Steiner improvised around a devised piece in response to the imagery.
The convent building is now housing for the most deprived families and individuals in Avis. This communist municipality has a history of using creatively supporting it's community but an international group of artists who transformed the town for a three week period was new. Many local musicians took part in this residency and workshops were provided for the community to access dance, film making. Most of the town came out on the warm streets to all of the Rapid events.
